As a small manufacturer of traditional
furniture, we are deeply concerned about the quality of
our product and firmly believe that careful and constant
inspection is essential to any quality control program.
For a brief statement of our quality.
We use beautifully
grained solid Appalachian cherry, and our inspectors select
only the choicest grades of this solid hardwood.
In our rough mill, knots and defects must
be removed from each board; in addition boards are examined
carefully for color and grain match prior to gluing. Our
standards are very high --nearly half of all lumber cut
ends up as fuel to heat the plant and dry kilns.
Statton Furniture is a bench-built product.
The intricate and often subtle details which
distinguish well made furniture (See Glossary
of Terminology for 18th Century American Furniture) cannot
be mass produced. There is no substitute for the expertise
of skilled artisans. Our cabinetmakers build each piece
of furniture one at a time, just as their forbears did.
You may also take a virtual tour of
our plant in Hagerstown, Maryland, to see how we implement
these quality standards. |
